This is the fist of many more university projects to come!

As part of our "skills training fortnight" My class of 4 have been set the task of making a 'Planet of the Apes' - inspired mask/bust. The clay sculpture is founded on a small mound of plaster cloth coated polystyrene- sealed with shellac. From these sculpts I hope to make a glass fibre and polyester resin cast.

Above to can see me getting to grips with "roughing out" my sculpture!. The whole purpose of the sculpting exercise is to experiment with the clay and get an idea of scale and proportion in relation to your subject and research.
